Advocacy and Lobbying

The Carers Association lobbies politically both at a local and national level. We are also represented on a number of consultative committees, state agencies and boards and are members of the Community and Voluntary Pillar of the Social Partnership.

Taoiseach meets the Carers Association

The Carers Association met with Government leaders including An Taoiseach on 29 September. Pictured above is Mr. Enda Egan, the Chief Executive Officer of The Carers Association and An Taoiseach.

At the meeting the Carers Association requested that the government implement a Strategy for Family Carers. Also in attendance at the meeting were Tanaiste Ms. Mary Harney, and the Minister for Social and Family Affairs, Mr. Seamus Brennan. The Carers Association was represented by Mr. Enda Egan, Mr. Frank Goodwin (Chairman of the Carers Association) and Mr. Stanley Warren (board member and family carer). Press Release.
