Events

One of the most fundamental aspects of The Carers Association’s existence and ethos is in the area of promotion and awareness of the issues faced by family Carers on an ongoing basis.

As part of our promotional campaign, we hold the Carers of the Year Awards. Once a year we give family carers the acknowledgement they deserve and the opportunity for their family and friends to nominate them for the extraordinary levels of care they provide to a loved one.

Carers Week has become an annual week long event for family carers nationwide. All our 16 resource centres hold a variety of events from fun filled days out, information days, stress management classes, massage therapy, social evenings and beauty therapy. This year Carers Week takes place from 14th - 20th June 2010.

Our annual National Conference is held to highlight carer’s issues. The theme for our 2008 National Conference was ‘Carers Health and Well Being’.

Each year The Carers Association publishes its Pre Budget Submission and presents the report to Government.

If you are interested in taking part in fundraising for The Carers Association then our annual International Walk may be just the event you are looking to get involved in. This year we are holding a National Dog Walk in association with Petmania on Easter Monday, 5th April 2010. Eleven Dog Walks are being held across the country leaving from Petmania Stores. Register Here for the National Dog Walk.

From time to time The Carers Association holds other events that serve to promote and lobby for family carers.
