Carers Protest March November 2009
Family Carers marched backwards on Government buildings on Tuesday 1st December to plead with Government not to go back on the half rate Carers Allowance introduced in 2007. Organising the protest march, The Carers Association appealed to Government not to make cuts in allowances for family Carers, who have already received cutbacks in community care and respite services, the Christmas bonus suspension and face an additional 3 - 5% in other social welfare payments.

On Thursday 2nd of April, 161 family carers representing 0.1% of Irelands 161,000 family carers marched backwards to Government Buildings
to highlight Governments 'going backwards' instead of forwards in supporting family carers.
